Nippon Maru, Home of the SSEAYP-ians
Dear SSEAYP & Fellow SSEAYP-ians:
Today marks the beginning of the journey of our lifetime. Today marks the day we crossed paths with one another. Back to the very first SSEAYP days, we would stick to our own kind because we didn’t know each other. Who knew that by the end of this wonderful journey we would become one true family? Who knew that we would always hold each other dear to our hearts? Who knew that we would always remember SSEAYP as our journey of a lifetime? Who knew that SSEAYP would allow us to discover ourselves, true friends, the world and meanings of life?
SSEAYP, you’ve given me so much, so far beyond my expectation. You have opened my eyes to cultures, some of which I had no ideas of. You have helped me hold mine even closer to myself. And most beautiful of all, you have given me the beautiful people that I met and now know. You have given me a new family outside my own. Without you, I would not be outgoing, confident and outspoken as I am today. No matter what, you will forever be close to my heart. You are the one journey that I will never ever regret taking.
My dearest SSEAYP friends, a zillion thanks for the wonderful love, memories and priceless friendship. You have made a very special difference in my life. I promise I’ll cherish them all till the last moment.
I love you all… Happy 4th Anniversary!!!
Till we meet again.

SSEAYP’S NIPPON MARU SONG
Lyric and music by Augusto Francisco Jasmin Meyer, Filipino PY 1976
Nippon Maru, sailing the blue, blue ocean.
Riding the waves over the deep blue sea.
Can you tell me how much you can cover a day?
Can you tell me how long you have gone
with the purpose of bringing together
young heart and mind?
Nippon Maru , sailing the blue , blue ocean
chasing the wind over the deep blue sea.
Can you take me with you to the ports of the world
with the message of love and peace?
Can you take me to the nations where caring
is only a word to say?
If you carry us over and out to the world
There’s a chance we can speak to them all.
There’s a chance we can tell them the world’s but home
and all people’s family!
SSEAYP MEMORY VIDEO
You may say that I am emotional, but I almost cry every time I watch this video.
All the happy and sad memories suddenly just hit me back.

If I were you, I would also cry when I watch that clip. Even memories is in our own brain, our own head, but we can’t erase them ourselves. If the God does have on earth, I want him to turn back the time.
Why don’t we continue creating such memories tomorrow?
You are absolutely right, Ka. I really wish I could turn back time and get together with all my old friends again. And if there was a chance, I really wanna do like what u suggested, create another miracle tomorrow..
Yes, you are right Mongkol, the SSEAYP is a journey of life. Glad to learn that you are a member of the SSEAYP family.
I an from Malaysia and was a PY back in 1976 (3rd Ship) and till today, we’re still in touch with many of our friends from Asean and Japan. Back then, we had only six countries (Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand & Phillipines).
We recently had our first ever-reunion of our batch after 30 years and it was a fantastic and wonderful occassion for everyone of us.
For those of us who have been on the SSEAYP, it is also our hope then that the world should be like the Nippon Maru, where we are like a family, sharing, helping, undertanding and ever so willing to make our lives better.
Best regards to you.
Hi Ronnie,
I am glad I found you. So, you must be in the same batch as Daeng Supatra TPY ‘76 too. I am one of her friend, and she told me once about your batch’s reunion in the Philippines. That’s lovely. I really admire how you guys managed to keep your friendship alive throughout the past 30 years. That’s amazing.
Hi, I’m from 2001 batch. Singapore PY. Our contingent’s motto was “Be Connected”. LOL. I guess with technology like email, mobile phones, Instant Messenger, Blogs… really no reason why we can’t continue to stay in touch with our batch mates. Even if we’re from different SSEAYP years, there’s also a common bond and language. Cheers.
Hello,
I was a participant of 1986 representaing Malaysia. It is 2008 now and it is still so sweet! We were from seven countries on board the amazing Nipon Maru. Well, if anyone from the ‘86 batch cross this website I say ‘Hi’ and maybe we can share some pictures from that fantastic trip. Not forgetting to thank you, Ronnie, for this wonderful site.
