Reading “ขะแมร์-ไทย : มิตรหรือศัตรู,” I learned that there were days in the past when Cambodian-Thai relation (at least at the people level) was a lot more amicable. As described by the authors, this warm relation is reflected in one favorite hit from the 1960’s by famous Thai singer Pusit Pusawang (ภูษิต ภู่สว่าง) called “กัมพูชาที่รัก” or “កម្ពុជាជាទីស្នេហា” in Khmer or “Beloved Cambodia” in English.

My hope is for both peoples to look at each other from a different corner. And it begins right from you and me. Thanks for sharing the information that can leads to the change we, both peoples, have wanted throughout the history.
I agree. It is my hope too that both peoples will learn to forget and forgive. While history is important, it should not be the only factor influencing our perception of one another. For a fact, it is highly manipulated and tend to represent the voice of the country and the political leader under whom it was written. In a nutshell, it’s extremely hard to say which side is true.
Via the dissemination of such positive message(s), I hope Cambodians and Thais will revisit their judgment and put all of the negative feelings aside.

Nice input here, Mongkol. The hope is there, but more action is needed. Understanding history is not as important as learning from it and moving on. By the way, what does the picture denote. Is the person there Thai visiting Angkor Wat?

the song sounds beautiful. it’s pleasing to my ears. the first verse that was translated is very sweet . i don’t understand thai but can clearly sense the warmness in his soul when he sings it. “beloved cambodia” is definatly a beautiful song.
